Earlier today, I completed my fleet of mini Daron planes, which were a line of planes that were smaller than the normal ones. Many Daron collectors either don’t know about these or don’t consider them as Daron planes. I do, because they have the same landing gear as normal ones, and the Realtoy logo on the wings. All of these were produced around 2012 and 2013 for a short period of time. These planes were produced as a larger twin set, and a smaller twin set, both of which are pictured above. The smaller ones come with a rectangular cardboard piece that looks like the tarmac, and the large set comes with a realistic play mat, and roughly to scale accessories.
The VC-25 (Air Force One) and C-40 set is the rarest of them, because most people just bought the more well known normal sized set, which was the same price as the small ones. It was only made around 2012, but was available until around 2015 due to its unpopularity. Because they didn’t make a mini 757 mold, Daron made a C-40 (737) instead. My favorite detail about it is that it has eyebrows and winglets, which I think has only been seen on the Sun Express 737. It also has a 747-8, since there wasn’t a mini 747-200 mold. I’m not a big fan of the mini 747 mold, because the wings are too curved upwards. Other than that, It’s a cool and nicely done set.
The Delta 737 and 747 mini twin set was made around 2012, and was more popular than the other set. It has a Delta 747-8, since they didn’t make a 400 mold. It also has a 737, which I wish was also made as a big set, since we need smaller planes from the “big three” airlines. It was distributed by Daron worldwide like all the others.
The larger Delta set with the 787 is the only twin set with multiple fictional models, since Delta never had the 747-8 or the 787. The 787 was made because Delta hadn’t cancelled the order that carried over from NWA yet. I really like this set, especially because of all the realistic stuff that comes with it.
I also wanted to mention that there also might be a mini United set, but it’s not confirmed, since the only picture of it is a stock photo with the Delta box, so I don’t know if it’s real. If it is, I don’t think it saw mass production, since I’ve never seen it except in that photo below.
